University Faculty Participate in Workshop to Legislate the Proposed Iraqi Programmers Syndicate Law

A workshop on the legislation of the proposed Iraqi Programmers Syndicate Law was held at the Iraqi Parliament on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, with the participation of a selection of specialists and decision-makers in the field of information technology and legislation.

The workshop was chaired by Mr. Saad Fayyad Mouzan, Director General of the Parliamentary Development Institute, with the participation of the Director General of the Parliamentary Legislation Department, Dr. Mohammed Qasim Al-Mayahi, the President of the Founding Council of the Syndicate, Mr. Saeed Abdul Karim, the official spokesperson for the Founding Council, Dr. Ahmed Al-Azzawi, in addition to a number of members of parliament and specialized professors in the field of information technology.

The workshop discussed the technical and legal aspects of the proposed law, with the presentation of observations aimed at strengthening the role of the syndicate in supporting programmers and organizing their work within Iraq.

Asst. Lect. Fadel Abbas Fadel, Head of the Information Technology Division in the Department of Computer Science, and Asst. Lect. Abu Bakr Saeb from the Information Technology Center at the University of Technology, were selected to actively participate in the workshop and provide their specialized opinions and contribute to enriching the technical and legal discussion related to the draft law.
